Illinois Real Estate License Requirements
Salesperson Licensing Requirements to Obtain a Salesperson's License (until May 1, 2011): Be at least 21 years old. If between the ages of 18-21, exceptions do apply. Please contact Customer Service at 800-314-5262 for details. Have graduated from high school or obtained the equivalent of a high school degree (GED). Have successfully completed the 45-hour Real Estate Transactions course. Have successfully passed both the Illinois and National portions of the AMP Salesperson Real Estate Exam. Have completed, signed and submitted the licensing application provided by the Illinois Real Estate Division along with the required fee.
Broker Licensing Educational Requirements to Obtain a Broker's License (until May 1, 2011): Be at least 21 years old. If between the ages of 18-21, exceptions do apply. Please contact Customer Service at 800-314-5262 for details Have graduated from high school or obtained the equivalent of a high school degree (GED). Have successfully completed 120 credit hours in the following manner: 45 credit hours for a Real Estate Transactions course 15 credit hours for a Brokerage Administration course 15 credit hours for Contracts and Conveyances 15 credit hours of mandatory course work as established by the Education Advisory Council and the Division Credit for the remaining 30 class hours may be obtained by completing at least two of the following courses listed: Appraisal Property Management Financing Sales and Brokerage Farm Property Management Real Property Insurance

Salesperson Continuing Education All Salespersons licenses are valid until April 30, 2012. To continue being licensed you will be required to upgrade to a Broker license prior to April 30, 2012. To make that transition, you will be required to take 30 hours of post-licensure education as defined or successfully pass a onetime only proficiency exam. These 2 items will not be available until May 1, 2011. Broker Continuing Education Future Illinois Broker continuing education requirements are in regulatory discussion. Please check back for further information. Post-Licensing The state of Illinois does not currently require post-licensing education. Post-licensing will be required after May 1, 2011.
